Sean O’Malley Responds to Payton Talbott’s UFC 332 Callout
Sean O’Malley, the former UFC bantamweight champion, has responded to Payton Talbott’s direct callout following Talbott’s victory at UFC 332. Talbott secured a significant win over former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo via first-round TKO in the co-main event.
Following the impressive performance, Talbott publicly challenged O’Malley. While UFC CEO Dana White hinted at significant future matchups for Talbott, O'Malley addressed the situation on The Suguru Show.
O'Malley Denies White House Fight Offer
Regarding the callout and allegations of avoidance, O’Malley stated he did not receive an offer to fight Talbott at the White House, suggesting Talbott may have fabricated the story. O'Malley questioned the possibility of a fighter being offered an opponent without the main attraction's (A-side) prior consent.
“He called me Spider-Man; that was kind of nice of him…with the ducking allegations, I didn’t get offered Payton Talbott at the White House,” O’Malley said. “I think he made it up. I don’t think he ever got offered me.”
O'Malley also defended his recent fight history, pointing out that four of his last seven bouts were against highly-ranked bantamweights, including Petr Yan, Aljamain Sterling, and Merab Dvalishvili. He emphasized that he is not avoiding tough competition.
“I ain’t ducking!” O’Malley asserted.
O'Malley's last fight was a knockout victory over Aiemann Zahabi at UFC Freedom 250. He remains a potential opponent for the winner of the upcoming Petr Yan vs. Merab Dvalishvili trilogy fight, with a potential bout against Talbott also on the table.
