Nando De Colo Honored by FFBB
The French Basketball Federation (FFBB) recognized prominent figures in French basketball during its annual General Assembly. Nando De Colo and Andreas Zagklis were awarded the highest FFBB distinction, the Robert Busnel – Yvan Mainini Trophy.
Andreas Zagklis, Secretary General of FIBA, received the award for his extensive work in developing basketball. Nando De Colo was honored for his exceptional career, with the trophy presented to him at the General Assembly's Gala Dinner in the presence of his family.
Jean-Aimé Toupane, coach of the French women's national team, was also celebrated. Following their silver medal win at the 2026 World Cup and Olympic silver, Toupane received a framed acknowledgment from FFBB President Jean-Pierre Hunckler for the team's remarkable achievements.
Other distinctions awarded included:
- Coqs d’Or: Julie Barennes (Basket Landes coach) and René Kirsch (FFBB Disciplinary Committee Co-President).
- Coq d’Argent: Rolande Darnal (FFBB Management Committee member and Overseas & Corsica Commission Vice-President).
- Coqs de Bronze: Christian Lemoigne (Orne Departmental Committee President), Jacky Vernoud (Côte-d’Or Departmental Committee President), Sylvette Gourdon (Charente-Maritime Departmental Committee President), Dorienne Gruszczynski (Nord Departmental Committee President), and Pierre-Yves Bichon (FFBB Management Committee member and High Level Officials President).
These awards acknowledge individual journeys, commitments, and performances that contribute to the history and growth of French basketball.
