Natalia Silva Claims Flyweight Title, Pros React
Natalia Silva secured the vacant UFC women's flyweight title at UFC 332, defeating Wang Cong by unanimous decision. The championship bout followed Valentina Shevchenko's vacating of the belt due to injury.
Silva, entering the fight with a 14-win streak and her last loss in December 2017, dominated the early rounds. Cong, who had won her previous four fights, mounted a comeback in the fourth and fifth rounds but ultimately fell short.
The judges scored the fight 48-47 twice and 49-46 in favor of Silva.
Former champion Valentina Shevchenko congratulated Silva on her win: "Well deserved Natalia! Congratulations! It’s my pleasure to know that UFC Champion’s belt is now holding deserving martial artist – such as you are! 👊 But don’t get too comfortable — keep it warm, I’m coming soon for my belt!"
