Independent studio Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital have revealed that the intriguing duology of philosophical puzzle games, The Talos Principle, is actually a trilogy. They have just announced The Talos Principle 3, the final chapter of this virtual realm’s story, which will present new challenges on a cosmic journey across dozens of worlds.
You can watch the short announcement trailer below. It doesn’t reveal details about its gameplay or the new ‘puzzles’ it will feature, but it at least gives an idea of its tone and the worlds we will visit. It also doesn’t reveal an official release date, but we know it will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam in 2027.
The official plot description of the game reads as follows:
As if waking from a disquieting dream, you find yourself in a strange and contradictory world, filled with ruined temples and abandoned scientific outposts: the Anomaly, the only place in the universe where the laws of physics do not work as they should. Your memories are fragmented, but you know you came here for a reason.
Tasked with solving a series of increasingly complex puzzles, you will relive your life as an explorer and, with it, the history of the world humanity has built. Some say the Anomaly is Paradise. Others say it is Hell. The only certainty is that judgment awaits you.
The developers state that players will encounter both new and familiar mechanics when solving puzzles, and the story will continue its exploration of life, death, and the sublime. The soundtrack will be entirely new and will once again be handled by composer Damjan Mravunac.
If you are eager to play The Talos Principle 3 and cannot wait for its release, you can always revisit the first game in this trilogy with the remastered version called The Talos Principle: Reawakened, available on multiple platforms.
