Rockstar Games' highly anticipated GTA 6, set in the fictional state of Leonida based on Florida, will not feature a parody of Walt Disney World. The presence of a Disney-like entity in the Grand Theft Auto universe began in GTA V with Fred's Pictures, a film studio founded by Fred Quincy. Quincy, a character from early 20th-century Los Santos, produced children's films with darker themes. A mission in GTA V even involved Michael uncovering murder mysteries linked to Fred, drawing parallels to Walt Disney.
Jack McPherson, content designer at Rockstar North, confirmed in Game Informer's special edition on GTA 6 that a Walt Disney World replica won't be present in the Leonida map. However, McPherson emphasized that GTA 6 will capture the "full Florida experience" through other elements.
"We constantly evaluate the diversity of landscapes, towns, structures, landmarks, vistas, plant species, rock formations, and everything else before working with design and narrative to select what best functions and fits the needs of the game. So, while we may not have those exact locations, everything we have is geared towards delivering that full Florida experience!" McPherson stated.
GTA 6 will also not include SeaWorld or Florida's iconic Space Coast, home to the historic Cape Canaveral launch site. Given that GTA 6 primarily takes place in Vice City (Miami), which is about a four-hour drive from Orlando, these omissions make sense. This approach mirrors GTA V, which focused on Los Santos and Blaine County rather than the entirety of California.
