eFootball Kick-Off for Switch 2 Gets Major Update Ahead of EA Sports FC 27 Launch

Konami's eFootball Kick-Off, a standalone paid version for the Nintendo Switch, has received a substantial update. This $20 USD / £16 title, released in time for the FIFA World Cup 2026, initially focused on a single-player experience with a World Tour mode where players transfer real club players to their squad after defeating teams. It also featured an International Cup mode mirroring the 2026 FIFA World Cup groups, with both modes supporting local and online multiplayer, as well as cooperative play.

With EA Sports FC 27 set to launch on September 25th for all current and previous generation consoles, including the Switch and Switch 2, Konami has deployed update 1.2.0 for eFootball Kick-Off. This free update introduces a new "Leagues" mode. In this mode, players can select a team from any of the 25 leagues featured in the game, spanning Europe, South America, and Asia-Oceania.

The "Leagues" mode, much like World Tour and International Cup, supports cooperative play for up to four players who can guide the same team through a season. In addition to the new mode, 13 legendary players have been added to the World Tour mode. These new legends, including Fernando Torres, Keisuke Honda, and Gerard Piqué, can be acquired using in-game currency earned by playing matches.
