Preview Street Fighter 6: Ingrid’s Release Date and Gameplay Revealed

After over 20 years since her original game debut was cancelled, Ingrid is finally set to formally return to the Street Fighter universe. Capcom has released the gameplay trailer for this character in Street Fighter 6, revealing not only her combat abilities but also her definitive release date.

A Bit of History…

Ingrid was initially conceived for the crossover Capcom Fighting All-Stars, which was cancelled in 2003. Despite that setback, her design was salvaged for later titles like Capcom Fighting Evolution and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max for PSP. Therefore, this marks her official debut in the Street Fighter franchise.

When Will Ingrid Be Available in Street Fighter 6?

Ingrid will be the closing character for Street Fighter 6‘s third season, which previously introduced Sagat, C. Viper, and Alex, on Thursday, May 28th. It is currently unknown if Capcom will release a substantial patch or update with the start of Street Fighter 6‘s fourth season alongside Ingrid’s arrival. It is worth noting that recent rumors have leaked a list of DLC characters for 2026, including Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII as a guest character for the fourth year of DLC content for Street Fighter 6.

How Does Ingrid Fight in Street Fighter 6?

The core of Ingrid’s gameplay revolves around Sun Crests. These are energy charges she can store (up to four units) by using the light versions of her Sun Flare and Solar Burst attacks. These crests enhance the range and damage of her strong and Overdrive versions. In terms of projectile game, her Sun Shot stands out – a light sphere that briefly pauses before advancing, allowing players to fire OD versions while normal shots are still on screen, creating complex traps.

For mobility and defense, Ingrid utilizes Vanishing Sun, a teleport with three variations: a safe forward attack, a vertical drop that leaves her in a positive state, or an escape. She also has Sun Veil, a counter-attack capable of nullifying projectiles and physical attacks. Her Super Arts also scale with her unique resource. For example, her Level 1, Shining Sun, consumes additional Sun Crests to increase damage and alter her final position, while her Level 2, Order of the Sun, unleashes a rain of solar stars that demands precise defense from the opponent.
