The Pokémon Company International has unveiled a new expansion for the popular Pokémon Trading Card Game: Mega Evolution – Growing Chaos. This set introduces Mega Floette ex wreaking havoc in Lumina City as night falls, with Mega Greninja ex and other powerful Pokémon like Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Dragalge ex ready to counter this threat, inspired by Pokémon Legends: Z-A. As expected, Mega Evolution – Growing Chaos is available worldwide through booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and other collections, including the Battle Deck bundles.
The expansion features more Mega Evolution Pokémon ex appearing as Ultra Rare cards, with artwork showcasing silhouettes of their original forms. True to tradition, the Elite Trainer Box includes six translucent damage counter dice and a pink primary die, mirroring Mega Greninja ex’s tongue scarf.
Here are some of the notable cards you can find in this expansion:
- 5 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
- 5 Pokémon ex
- 11 Illustration Rare Pokémon cards
- 18 Ultra Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards
- 6 Special Illustration Rare Pokémon and Supporter cards
The “metallic” detailing on the Froakie, Mega Greninja ex, and Mega Floette ex cards is a delightful touch. The Ultra Rare Eternal Flower version of Mega Floette ex, reminiscent of its appearance in Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Switch, is particularly noteworthy and is expected to become a highly sought-after card.
The focus on Lumina City is evident, depicted at night with the Prisma Tower as the “chaos grows” within the urban landscape. Overall, this expansion is a perfect homage for fans of the latest Pokémon action-RPG on Switch, making the nocturnal theme a fitting choice. One might wonder if Pokémon Pokopia will receive similar treatment. While unlikely, a collection dedicated to Ditto and its post-apocalyptic Kanto friends would be spectacular for the saga’s 30th anniversary.
