Preview Atalanta Targets Milan Midfielders as Ederson Nears Manchester United Transfer, Blocks Scamacca’s Roma Move

Italian reports indicate that Atalanta is considering Milan’s Samuele Ricci and Ardon Jashari as potential candidates to fill the void left by Ederson, who is widely expected to join Manchester United in a deal valued at €50 million. Simultaneously, Atalanta is reportedly determined to retain Gianluca Scamacca, rejecting any advances from Roma.

Atalanta Identifies Potential Replacements for Ederson

With Brazilian midfielder Ederson on the verge of a significant transfer to Manchester United, Atalanta is actively seeking a successor. According to Calciomercato.com, the Bergamo-based club has identified Milan’s midfield duo, Ricci and Jashari, among their primary targets.

Atalanta is also set to finalize key appointments, with Cristiano Giuntoli expected to be confirmed as the new sporting director and Maurizio Sarri as the new head coach.

Further names being considered by Atalanta, as per the report, include Udinese’s Arthur Atta and Como’s Lucas Da Cunha. Additionally, interest has been registered in Inter’s Davide Frattesi and Cagliari’s Gianluca Gaetano. A closer examination of these potential signings suggests that Da Cunha, Ricci, and Jashari are the most suitable options to replicate Ederson’s role as a deep-lying playmaker (regista), given that Atta, Frattesi, and Gaetano typically operate in more advanced attacking positions.

Calciomercato also suggests that coach Sarri is keen on reuniting with Taty Castellanos, who previously played for Lazio and moved to West Ham in January.

However, Gazzetta reports that Atalanta does not foresee significant changes in their attacking department, expressing a clear intention to keep both Nikola Krstovic and Gianluca Scamacca within the squad.

Scamacca has garnered attention from Roma, and according to Gazzetta, he has already engaged in discussions with Gian Piero Gasperini, his former coach during his previous spell at Atalanta. Despite this interest and potential conversations, Atalanta is firm in its decision not to entertain any offers for the Italian international, especially in light of the substantial revenue expected from Ederson’s departure to Manchester United.

Atalanta is seeking a replacement for Brazilian midfielder Ederson, who is expected to join Manchester United in a €50m transfer.

Atalanta targets potential Ederson replacements

According to Calciomercato.com, Atalanta have set their sights on Milan duo Ricci and Jashari, among others.

Atalanta will soon confirm the appointment of Cristiano Giuntoli as sporting director and the appointment of new coach Maurizio Sarri.

According to the report, Atalanta is also interested in Arthur Atta (Udinese) and Lucas Da Cunha (Como), as well as Davide Frattesi (Inter) and Gianluca Gaetano (Cagliari).

Technically, the only deep-lying playmakers on this list who could potentially replace Ederson are Da Cunha, Ricci, and Jashari, as Atta, Frattesi, and Gaetano usually have more attacking duties.

Calciomercato reports that Sarri is also eager to reunite with Taty Castellanos, a former Lazio player who joined West Ham in January.

According to Gazzetta, however, Atalanta is not considering making big changes in attack as they are eager to stick with both Nikola Krstovic and Gianluca Scamacca.

The latter has attracted interest from Roma and, according to Gazzetta, has already held talks with Gian Piero Gasperini, his former coach in Bergamo.

Atalanta, however, is unwilling to let Scamacca leave and is not inclined to even listen to offers for the Italy international, especially after Ederson’s big sale to Manchester United.
