Pokémon Legends Z-A: Season 9 Ranked Battles – All Returning Mega Stones, Prohibited Legendaries, and Rewards

The ninth Season of Ranked Battles in Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 is set to begin soon. It will run from Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11:00 PM Pacific Time until Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 6:59 PM Pacific Time. Throughout this period, trainers worldwide will engage in real-time online 4-player battles. Participants will earn points based on their performance, allowing them to advance through ranks, starting from Z and aiming for A.

Three types of rewards are available in Ranked Battles: Battle Rewards, which are granted after each match regardless of the outcome; Ascension Rewards, earned upon advancing to a higher rank; and Season Rewards, which are determined by your final rank when the season concludes.

The following Mega Stones will be available as Ascension Rewards for ranks Y through S: Greninjanite, Delphoxite, Chesnaughtite, Baxcaliburite, Sceptilite, Swampertite, and Blazikenite. This presents an excellent opportunity to acquire Mega Stones, even for trainers with less experience in Ranked Battles.

Permitted Pokémon and Items

For Season 9, all Pokémon from the Lumiose Pokédex (numbers 001-227) and the Dimensional Pokédex (numbers 001-112) are permitted. Pokémon from Lv. 1 to Lv. 100 are eligible, but will automatically be adjusted to Lv. 50 during battles. It is prohibited to include more than one Pokémon with the same Pokédex number. Notably, Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are forbidden.

Held Items

Pokémon may hold items, but no two Pokémon on the team are allowed to hold the same item.
