Dying Light: The Beast - Restored Land Game Mode Revealed
Feeling oversaturated with zombie games lately? Here's a compelling reason to return to Dying Light: The Beast and unleash more havoc on the undead. The new 'Restored Land' content is now available, offered both as part of a new special edition of the game and as a free update for existing owners.
Both the new edition and the free update launched on Thursday, May 26, 2026. A new trailer showcasing the content was also released, focusing on the new features.
In the 'Restored Land' game mode, every action carries permanent consequences, affecting players positively and negatively. Eliminated zombies do not respawn, but neither do looted items. Containers yield fewer supplies, and stores offer reduced inventories at higher prices. Previously repeatable activities like convoys, Dark Zones, and Hives can now only be completed once, which in turn limits opportunities to acquire valuable items.
These changes significantly heighten the importance of survival mechanics, requiring players to manage hunger and flashlight battery consumption with much greater care. For those seeking an even tougher challenge, the 'One Life' option introduces permadeath to the game. Fail, and you'll be forced to restart from the very beginning.

Another new game mode introduced alongside 'Restored Land' in Dying Light: The Beast is 'Roadkill Rallies'. These are exhilarating and competitive vehicle-based challenges where players must navigate optimal routes through the open world, all while, naturally, mowing down hordes of zombies. Leaderboards are included for players to compare their scores with friends.
Additional new features in this update include:
- 36 new mission encounters
- New brutal finishers
- Seven new achievements
- Five new hidden stashes
- High-risk zombie encounters with greater rewards
- Improvements to combat mechanics against special infected
- Co-operative gameplay enhancements
- Performance improvements
Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land is an enhanced new version of the game, comprising the base game, all new content, and previously released updates and improvements. It is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
