Speculation suggests Steveson's fight week was disrupted by his response to Sharaf's past accusations. Steveson's manager, Abe Kawa, shared a message of support for his fighter on Instagram.
"It's okay that Gable got caught," Kawa stated. "It's okay that he was booed. It's okay his opponent talked trash. It's okay the world is kicking him while he's down. This is the life he chose. Steveson left the Octagon before the official result was announced, drawing criticism from some, including UFC 331 commentator Daniel Cormier. Dana White, however, did not seem overly critical of Steveson's early departure.
