However, rumors and ‘leaks’ regarding Persona 6 have intensified this year, marking a decade since the last main installment. A recent alleged leak originating from Chinese platforms Douyin and RedNote has sparked significant attention.
A member of a subcontracted animation team is said to have leaked character designs and background art intended for Persona 6. The individual reportedly faced a penalty of 100,000 RMB (approximately 53 million pesos) and Atlus representatives privately contacted those who had saved the leaked material from their phones, demanding its deletion.
When is Persona 6 being released?
Based on a RedNote report, the user @eXtas1stv claims that Persona 6 is slated for a 2027 release and is already functionally complete. The credibility of this rumor, beyond @eXtas1stv, is bolstered by the involvement of lolilolailo, a well-regarded informant verified by the moderators of the ResetEra forum.
This leaker has a proven track record of accurate predictions. Nine months before their official announcements, they correctly revealed the arrival of Persona 5 Royal to Xbox, as well as the ports of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden to Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Furthermore, they confirmed the existence of Persona 3 Reload several months before its formal unveiling.
In this instance, lolilolailo asserts that the leaked character designs are genuine. The material depicts a blonde young man and a young woman with black and red hair at a train station. While @eXtas1stv initially suggested dual protagonists, lolilolailo clarified that only the blonde male character is the protagonist of the story, with the woman not fulfilling that role.
So when will Atlus announce Persona 6?
If these rumors prove true, 2026 could be the year Persona 6 is officially announced. Some fans speculate that the Summer Game Fest 2026, scheduled for June 5th, might be the chosen event. However, three days prior, there will be a mid-year State of Play, and on June 7th, the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 will take place. These events present plausible opportunities for Atlus to reveal initial official information about Persona 6.
Nevertheless, our prediction leans towards Atlus focusing on promoting the Persona 4 remake in June. We believe Atlus will likely present Persona 6 during the Tokyo Game Show 2026, which will be held from September 17th to 21st, 2026, at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, Japan.
