Preview Maresca: ‘I Feel Ready for the Next Chapter’ Amid Manchester City Reports

Italian coach Enzo Maresca has stated he feels prepared for the subsequent phase of his career, which could potentially lead him to Manchester City after his departure from Chelsea. He remarked, “We’ll see what happens.”

The 46-year-old previously guided Chelsea to the Club World Cup title last year, defeating Paris Saint-Germain to secure the trophy in the USA.

However, a series of disagreements with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy led to his departure from the club on January 1st.

Currently, he is being considered as a potential successor to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, should the Spaniard decide to leave his post.

Maresca appeared as a guest on Sky Sport Italia this evening, expressing his eagerness to return to work after a five-month break.

Maresca Eager to Get Back to Work

“I feel ready for the next chapter, and that is the most important thing,” the Italian coach commented.

When specifically asked about the Manchester City rumors, he did not dismiss them. “What matters, regardless of the club, is being ready. There are only a few weeks left until the end of the season, then we’ll see what happens.”

His strong association with the Manchester City role stems from his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager there during the 2022-23 campaign, and prior to that, his work with their youth academy from 2020-21.

His coaching experience includes a brief stint at Parma in Serie A for 14 games in 2021, followed by leading Leicester City to promotion in the 2023-24 season, before taking on the Chelsea job in the summer of that year.

Another potential opportunity for Maresca could be the Napoli job, if Antonio Conte departs at the end of the season.
