The first leg of the La Boulangère Wonderligue playoffs semi-finals took place this Wednesday, with the favored teams establishing an advantage in both matchups.
Bourges Approaches the Final
Bourges made a significant step towards the final by securing an away victory against Flammes Carolo. Capitalizing on their opponents’ poor two-point shooting (11/29 for the entire game), Bourges, led by an excellent Kariata Diaby (15 points, 13 rebounds), achieved a crucial win on the road.
Point guard Alix Duchet (18 points, 7 assists) and WNBA finalist Monique Akoa Makani (12 points) also contributed significantly to the victory. With this 13-point lead, Bourges is now in a strong position to reach the La Boulangère Wonderligue final.
Basket Landes Holds On
Basket Landes, winners of the French Cup and strong contenders for a repeat championship title, had to fight hard for their narrow 57-60 victory against Lattes-Montpellier.
Leïla Lacan, living up to her MVP title, was instrumental in the win with 18 points. Despite the loss, BLMA still has reason for hope. A last-second three-pointer by Romane Berniès reduced the deficit. With only 3 points to overcome, the “Gazelles” have a chance to turn the tide in Mont-de-Marsan on Saturday.
The return legs are scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, and will be broadcast live and free on Sport en France.
