AS Monaco has set an unfortunate new record in the Euroleague playoffs, experiencing the most imbalanced series in its history. Following losses by 21 points (91-70) and 30 points (94-64) in the first two games, Monaco was defeated by a further 23 points (82-105) on Tuesday. This resulted in a staggering cumulative deficit of 74 points over the three-game series.
This far surpasses the previous record of -57 points, held by Zalgiris Kaunas after their defeat to Fenerbahçe in 2019. For AS Monaco, this marks a disappointing end to what may have been their final season in Europe’s premier basketball competition, especially less than a year after coming close to winning the championship.
