Nanterre is back in the fight! After a late-game collapse two days prior, the Île-de-France team replicated a similar fate for AS Monaco this Wednesday, securing an 89-98 victory. Julien Mahé’s squad concluded this second encounter with a remarkable 19-4 run in the final four minutes to snatch the win (85-79 at the 36th minute, 89-98 at the 40th).
Dominating on the boards, exemplified by Mitchell Saxen’s strong performance (10 points, 15 rebounds), and with a commendable effort from Hugo Yimga-Moukouri (15 points, 8 rebounds), Nanterre displayed excellent team spirit despite trailing by as much as 12 points at Gaston-Médecin.
For the defending French vice-champions, there’s not much to fault. Élie Okobo was excellent (23 points, 8 assists), and their three-point shooting was on point (12/22). However, the fatigue from Roca Team’s tight rotation proved too challenging to overcome.
The Monaco players will naturally aim to bounce back this Saturday during Game 3, which will take place in Nanterre.
