Preview 2026/27 Serie A: Key Dates and Season Outlook

The 2026/27 Serie A season is set to kick off on August 23, 2026, and will conclude on May 30, 2027. This upcoming campaign will notably include a break for the Christmas period, a departure from recent seasons.

Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 Serie A season, where Inter Milan clinched their 21st Scudetto and Cremonese, Pisa, and Verona faced relegation to Serie B, attention now turns to the new season. The official fixture list for the 2026/27 campaign will be released by Lega Serie A on June 5, 2026.

Serie A 2026/27 Key Dates and Fixture Considerations

With the Serie A betting markets eagerly awaiting the schedule, anticipation is building for the upcoming season. The campaign officially commences on August 23, 2026, and wraps up on May 30, 2027.

The schedule features only two midweek rounds, slated for October 28 and Wednesday, January 6, 2027. A break will be observed on the weekend of December 27. Four international breaks are planned throughout the season: September 27, October 4, November 15, and March 28.

In light of recent incidents involving Juventus and Torino ultras, Lega Serie A President Ezio Maria Simonelli has indicated that the Turin Derby is unlikely to be scheduled for evening kick-offs next season. Simonelli stated his belief that such high-risk matches should be avoided in the latter stages of the season, suggesting that derbies might be confined to specific weekends to mitigate the influence of external factors and ensure a smoother conclusion to the campaign.

Inter Milan secured the Serie A title in the 2025/26 season, earning a Champions League spot alongside Napoli, Roma, and Como. Juventus and Milan will compete in the Europa League, while Atalanta has secured a place in the Conference League.

Managerial Changes for the 2026-27 Serie A Season

Among the top four teams, Napoli is the only club expected to see a coaching change for the upcoming season, as Antonio Conte departs after a two-year tenure.

Cristian Chivu is set to continue at the helm of Inter Milan. Gian Piero Gasperini and Cesc Fabregas are also expected to remain with Roma and Como, respectively.

Juventus is anticipated to retain Luciano Spalletti, despite finishing outside the Champions League qualification spots. Milan, on the other hand, faces a significant overhaul, not only replacing head coach Massimiliano Allegri but also restructuring their leadership team after dismissing Igli Tare, Giorgio Furlani, and Geoffrey Moncada following a disappointing fifth-place finish in the 2025/26 season.

Reports suggest that Atalanta is considering the appointment of Maurizio Sarri, which would see him reunite with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli in Bergamo.
