Victor Wembanyama made a strong comeback! Just 48 hours after being ejected in Game 4, the French sensation avoided suspension and delivered one of his best playoff performances to lead the Spurs to a decisive 127-96 victory over the Wolves, taking a 3-2 lead in the series.
As usual, Wembanyama was active on both ends of the court, scoring 27 points (on 9-of-16 shooting), grabbing 17 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists, and blocking 3 shots. He completely outplayed his counterpart and fellow Frenchman, Rudy Gobert, who had a less impactful game than usual (4 points, 5 rebounds). Coming off the bench, Sixth Man of the Year Keldon Johnson also provided significant support for the Texans with 21 points.
With this win, the Spurs are now just one victory away from reaching the Western Conference Finals, an achievement they haven’t accomplished since the 2016/17 season. To secure their spot, Wembanyama’s teammates will travel to Minneapolis on Friday night. Should they win, they would face the Thunder, the league’s top team, in the conference finals.
