UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko has directly addressed recent remarks from former bantamweight titleholder Ronda Rousey concerning fighter compensation and the use of OnlyFans.
Rousey made her comments during a recent press conference, where she criticized the UFC’s fighter pay structure. She argued that the organization is no longer the best place for combat sports athletes to earn a fair living, leading many top fighters to seek income elsewhere. In a notable statement, Rousey claimed, “It’s why their champions like Valentina [Shevchenko] are selling pictures of their titties on OnlyFans.”
Shevchenko, known as ‘Bullet,’ responded with a pointed message. She wrote on social media, “Fighters using OnlyFans is just a new way to connect with fans. Looks like Ronda slept too long after her last fight in 2016.” This response highlighted Shevchenko’s view that Rousey’s perspective is outdated and out of touch with current trends.
Rousey is preparing for her return to mixed martial arts against Gina Carano on May 16, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. This marks Rousey’s first fight since December 2016, while Carano has not competed professionally since August 2009.
