In early 2013, artist KC Green published installment #648 of his webcomic Gunshow, titled “The pills are working.” It features a dog in a hat drinking a beverage amidst a fire, saying “This is fine,” before being consumed by the flames. The first two panels of this work became one of the internet’s most popular and widespread memes, and one of the few to withstand the test of time. It’s still used today, and now, over 13 years later, this meme has its own official video game.
This is Fine: Maximum Cope is a 2D Metroidvania-style platformer (a single interconnected map where earned abilities unlock new areas) developed by indie studio Hero Concept and published by Numskull Games. It holds the official license from KC Green to use his character, and you can watch its trailer below, accompanied by music from The Living Tombstone.
How long will we have to wait to play this title? Absolutely no time at all. This is Fine: Maximum Cope was released on May 1, 2026, and is already available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, where a free demo is also available.
In this game, players must traverse a decaying amusement park that seems to be composed of surreal and dangerous versions of the protagonist dog’s fears and worries.

Games based on memes are common, but most of them tend to be ‘shovelware’ – trashy games that simply try to capitalize on a recognizable name and a popular trend. This is Fine: Maximum Cope is definitely different and appears to be a fun Metroidvania with excellent art.
By the way, did you know that three years after creating this popular meme, its creator released another version?
