Preview Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves – SNK Unveils First Glimpse of Kenshiro’s Hidden Gear in New Anime Commercials

SNK officially announced that Kenshiro, the protagonist of Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star), will be the latest character to join the second season of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. However, players will have to wait for Mr. Karate’s arrival later this month before witnessing Kenshiro’s fighting moves. Unexpectedly, SNK seems to have broken their usual protocol by providing an early look at one of Kenshiro’s special moves, his Hidden Gear, in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

Where Did SNK Show Kenshiro Before His Official Arrival in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves?

SNK revealed the first combat sequences of Kenshiro in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves through a recent television commercial aired in Japan during the broadcast of the sixth episode of the new Hokuto no Ken anime adaptation. While Kenshiro’s appearance in the footage is brief, starting around the 22-second mark of the advertisement, it showcases the character’s faithful recreation. The clip shows Kenshiro executing what appears to be his Hidden Gear, utilizing his signature rapid-strike technique against Wolfgang Krauser.

A notable detail is that Kenshiro tears his shirt during the execution of this special move, concluding the sequence with his iconic phrase: “You are already dead” —Omae wa mou shindeiru (おまえはもう死んでいる)—. In addition to his fighting style, it has been confirmed that Kenshiro will have his own dedicated stage, which is heavily inspired by the post-apocalyptic environment of the manga written by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara.

Who are the Characters in the Second Season of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves?

  • Kim Jae Hoon – The second son of Kim Kaphwan, he features a fighting style incorporating Taekwondo movements. Jae Hoon differentiates himself from his brother Dong Hwan with the use of fire techniques, reminiscent of his father’s abilities.
  • Nightmare Geese – This character is a variant based on the iconic villain. According to SNK, this playable version has been balanced for the game.
  • Blue Mary – Although a recurring character in The King of Fighters, the development team has redesigned her to recapture her essence from the Fatal Fury series. Her combat style leverages her “grappler” characteristics, utilizing the REV Accel system as the primary focus for generating constant offense.
  • Wolfgang Krauser – The antagonist of the second Fatal Fury installment returns with a 3D visual recreation aimed at balancing his various previous appearances. His design retains the Kaiser Wave as his central technique, respecting the character’s imposing scale.
  • Mr. Karate – Launching May 2026. During EVO Japan 2026, SNK revealed that Mr. Karate III, this time personified by Robert Garcia, will be the fifth character of this season, joining Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves in late May.
  • Kenshiro – Launching June 2026. This collaboration for the second season of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will bring the protagonist of Hokuto no Ken to fight in the streets of South Town.
