Preview SNK Unveils NeoGeo AES+: Release Date, Pricing, Versions, and Everything You Need to Know

SNK has captured the attention of fighting game enthusiasts and retro console collectors with the announcement of a new official hardware: the NeoGeo AES+.

The NeoGeo AES+ is an accurate recreation of the original Japanese hardware, developed by SNK and distributed by Plaion. Unlike other retro systems that rely on emulation or FPGA, this console utilizes redesigned ASIC chips. This ensures a native replication of the original SNK arcade board architecture from the 90s, guaranteeing identical software execution and full compatibility with both new cartridges launching alongside the console and original cartridges from the era.

The NeoGeo AES+ features low-latency HDMI output, DIP switches for language settings and overclocking, and various display modes for purists. It also retains the original AV output for compatibility with CRT monitors.

The ultimate version of the NeoGeo AES+ will include 10 physical games, which will also be available for individual purchase:

  • Metal Slug
  • The King of Fighters 2002
  • Garou: Mark of the Wolves
  • Big Tournament Golf
  • Shock Troopers
  • Samurai Shodown V Special
  • Pulstar
  • Twinkle Star Sprites
  • Magician Lord
  • Over Top.
