Francesco Pio Esposito stated that he always dedicates his full effort when representing the Italy national team, asserting that “We didn’t treat these two games as friendlies.”
The Inter Milan forward recently netted two consecutive goals in matches against Luxembourg and Greece, securing two 1-0 victories for the Azzurri.
Pio Esposito’s Thoughts After Italy’s 1-0 Win Against Greece
With these recent goals, Pio Esposito has now scored five goals in nine appearances for the Azzurri. This puts him on par with Giuseppe Meazza for the most goals scored for La Nazionale before the age of 21.
“I am pleased with my goal and this milestone, but that was not my primary concern before the game,” the striker shared with Rai Sport, as reported by TMW.
“My main satisfaction comes from the victory; this is a truly exceptional group.
“We approached these two matches with the intention of winning, not as mere friendlies.”
Esposito had previously missed a penalty in a shootout against Bosnia and Herzegovina in March. Following his recent decisive goals, has he found reconciliation with the national team?
“I always give my maximum effort when I wear this jersey. Missing a penalty can happen, but it’s important to look forward. I’m glad these past two games have gone well and I hope to maintain this form,” he concluded.
Pio Esposito rejoined Inter last summer after a two-season loan spell at Spezia in Serie B.
The 20-year-old forward achieved ten goals and provided six assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri during the 2025-26 season.
His current contract at the Stadio Meazza is set to expire in June 2030.
