Preview Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina Announced at EVO Japan 2026

During the closing of the Melty Blood: Type Lumina Top 8 at EVO Japan 2026, French-Bread unveiled an unexpected announcement for the fighting game community. Following the tournament’s conclusion, an official trailer confirmed the development of Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina. This marks the franchise’s return with new content, something that hasn’t happened since the release of the last downloadable characters in late 2022.

When is Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina releasing?

According to the presented trailer, Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina is slated for release in early 2027. French-Bread describes the game as a “renovation” of the current installment, featuring an evolved battle system and the inclusion of new characters, with Len being the first to be revealed. This news has been met with positive reception, especially considering the game hasn’t seen significant updates since the arrival of Ushiwakamaru and The Count of Monte Cristo. Although the trailer was brief, it offered glimpses of Len’s gameplay, hinting at the project’s future direction.

Who is Len?

The trailer highlighted the presence of Len, a character who serves as the main heroine in the story of Kagetsu Tohya and also appears in Melty Blood Re-ACT. Len is a nature spirit and a familiar of Shiki Tohno, with whom she has a contract following the events of Kagetsu Tohya. Originally created by an extraordinary magician centuries ago, she was under the care of Arcueid Brunestud, though due to her nature, she couldn’t form a formal bond with her. In the series’ timeline, Len resides in the Tohno Mansion and has confronted White Len to resolve her own conflicts. Her return as a playable character in Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina reaffirms her importance in the Type-Moon franchise’s narrative.
