Koei Tecmo has shared new details regarding the rerelease of Dead or Alive 6 at EVO Japan 2026. While the rerelease was expected to be a conservative update, the developer has responded to fan feedback. Following prior statements that content from the KOF XIV collaboration would not be present, a trailer revealed at EVO Japan 2026 has confirmed that SNK guest characters Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond will indeed be part of Dead or Alive 6: Last Round.
Will Mai and Kula Be Included in the Base Game or Sold Separately as DLC Again?
The announcement of Dead or Alive 6: Last Round at EVO Japan 2026 comes with a significant detail regarding the inclusion of these The King of Fighters XIV fighters. Unlike previously released DLC characters, who are integrated into the standard edition of this rerelease, Mai and Kula will remain paid downloadable content. Furthermore, the Japanese developer has reconfirmed that purchases made in the original version of Dead or Alive 6 will not transfer to Last Round. This means players will need to repurchase the KOF XIV characters, along with their five additional outfits.
Dead or Alive 6: Last Round will also feature technical enhancements for current-generation consoles, an optimized photo mode, and an improved version of the Lost Paradise stage, now named “Oboro.”
What is the Release Date for Dead or Alive 6 Last Round?
The free-to-play standard version of Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 on Thursday, June 25, 2026. This edition will include the 24 fighters from the original launch, as well as the five characters that were later added as downloadable content (DLC). Additionally, this version will boast performance improvements and the inclusion of a new photo mode, designed to capture combat sequences from various camera angles.
