Italian international Guglielmo Vicario has been put forward for the Premier League Goalkeeper Performance of the Season award, acknowledging his impressive displays for Tottenham. His season was unfortunately cut short by surgery for a hernia in March.
Prior to his injury, Vicario was the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for Spurs and played a crucial role in their successful effort to remain in the Premier League. His performances even sparked speculation about a potential move to Inter Milan.
Vicario Contends for Premier League Accolade
Vicario is among six goalkeepers nominated for the Premier League Goalkeeper Performance of the Season award. The recipient will be determined through a vote involving both the public and a panel of experts.
Despite being on the losing side in a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, Vicario’s performance in that match was noteworthy, as he made eight significant saves. Notably, he thwarted Joao Pedro on three occasions from close range.
The other goalkeepers nominated for the award are: Jordan Pickford (Everton vs. Brighton), Robin Roefs (Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland), Martin Dúbravka (Burnley vs. Nottingham Forest), Robert Sánchez (Chelsea vs. Aston Villa), and José Sá (Nottingham Forest vs. Wolves).
