Stones Injury Concerns for Inter Ahead of Roma Clash

Inter faces a fresh injury concern with John Stones. The defender was forced off during his first start of the season, potentially jeopardizing his availability for the crucial Scudetto match against Roma.

Stones, who started alongside former teammate Manuel Akanji at the San Siro against Udinese, pulled up suddenly while chasing England colleague Keinan Davis. He signaled to the bench that he needed to be substituted.

The severity of the injury is yet to be determined. This development is a significant worry for Inter, especially with a key head-to-head battle against league leaders Roma scheduled for Saturday night.

Inter coach Cristian Chivu confirmed to DAZN Italia that Stones "felt something in his flexor."

Though only 32, Stones' injury history was a factor in Manchester City's decision not to extend his contract, which expired on June 30. He joined Inter as a free agent and has since made four appearances across Serie A and the Champions League. This was his first start, and he played 62 minutes before his substitution.

Inter is also dealing with other fitness issues. Hakan Calhanoglu was absent from the squad due to an adductor problem sustained in the match against Real Madrid. Federico Dimarco returned as a substitute against Udinese after missing the Real Madrid game with a knee issue, while Djed Spence is still awaiting his matchday squad debut following his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur with an existing injury.
