Milinkovic-Savic Targeted by Milan for Serie A Return
Reports suggest that former Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic might make a return to Serie A next season with AC Milan, though this move would necessitate a substantial reduction in his current Al-Hilal salary.
The Serbian international gained prominence in Italian football during his eight-year tenure with Lazio, having joined from KRC Genk in summer 2015 for €12 million before his transfer to Al-Hilal in 2023 for €40 million.
Existing Connections Between Milinkovic-Savic and Milan
He has been repeatedly linked with a potential return to Serie A over recent years, with the most recent rumors pointing towards a move to AC Milan.
This connection is partly due to Max Allegri's long-standing admiration for the 31-year-old player, and the potential move would also reunite Milinkovic-Savic with former Lazio sporting director Igli Tare, who now oversees AC Milan's transfer strategy.
As reported by Tuttosport and Calciomercato, the Rossoneri believe that Milinkovic-Savic could significantly enhance their midfield, particularly if they secure qualification for the Champions League.
The primary hurdle, however, is his recent contract extension with Al-Hilal, which binds him until June 2028 and comes with an annual salary of approximately €20 million.
For a move to AC Milan to materialize, he would likely need to accept a salary equivalent to roughly a quarter of his current earnings, supplemented by performance-based bonuses.
