Juventus in Reverse: Thiago Motta Among Options for Tottenham's Managerial Role

Thiago Motta is being considered as a potential successor to Igor Tudor for the head coach position at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. This development comes less than a year after Tudor took over from Motta at Juventus, creating a notable reversal of roles.

Could Tottenham Appoint Another Former Juventus Head Coach to Replace Tudor?

It's been nearly a year since Motta was relieved of his duties as head coach of Juventus. The former Bologna strategist's tenure with the Turin giants was cut short, lasting less than a year following significant summer spending and a subsequent string of disappointing performances.

Motta departed his role on March 23 last year, with Tudor swiftly announced as his replacement on the very same day.

Tudor initially joined Juventus on a short-term contract, slated to conclude at the end of the 2024-25 season. However, his impressive performance in a brief series of matches towards the campaign's end earned him a contract extension until summer 2028.

Despite the extension, Tudor's time at Juventus was ultimately brief, as he was replaced by the current manager, Luciano Spalletti, by the end of October.

Since his departure from Juventus, Tudor has taken on the role of head coach for Premier League struggling side Tottenham, again on a short-term deal until the season's end. However, he has suffered defeats in his initial three matches at the helm, leaving Spurs precariously positioned just one point above the relegation zone with nine league games remaining.

Sources suggest that Tottenham may already be contemplating a change in management, with Tudor's position under scrutiny after just three games. Speculation indicates that Motta is among the potential candidates being considered as his replacement.

Beyond Motta, Tottenham is reportedly considering other Italian coaches, including former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi. Additional alternatives mentioned include Sean Dyche, Robbie Keane, and Ryan Mason.
