Cucurella Expresses Strong Disappointment Over Maresca's Chelsea Departure

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has openly voiced his profound disappointment regarding Enzo Maresca's exit from the club, emphasizing the significant positive impact the Italian coach had on the team. Cucurella stated, "When a manager instills that level of confidence and offers a platform to contend for titles, you develop an extreme loyalty; you'd sacrifice for him."

Cucurella indicated that Maresca's departure, which occurred previously, represented a major setback for the Blues. He fondly recalled the sense of stability Maresca fostered within the squad. "Under Enzo Maresca, we achieved greater stability because we had eighteen months to collaborate," Cucurella explained. "If you recall our initial pre-season with him, there were uncertainties. It requires a structured process for every player to fully grasp our objectives. In his final months with us, our play became almost instinctive. Even when we altered our formation, we knew precisely what was required. That kind of time is absolutely essential."

Maresca had previously guided Chelsea to victories in the Conference League and the Club World Cup. However, unresolved disagreements concerning the club's long-term strategic vision ultimately led to his departure after a year and a half at the helm.

For such a change, it would have been unequivocally better to wait until the season's conclusion. That would grant everyone – both the players and the new manager – adequate preparation time, including a complete pre-season."
