Aston Villa have expressed interest in signing Jonathan David from Juventus. This move could significantly impact Juventus's offensive strategy.

According to reports, Aston Villa, under manager Unai Emery, have explored the possibility of acquiring the Canadian striker. While no formal negotiations have begun, they are assessing the feasibility of a deal, potentially a loan.

For Juventus, this interest is seen as a positive development. The club is keen to strengthen their attacking options for coach Luciano Spalletti. However, financial constraints mean they need to sell David first to generate the necessary funds for a new signing.

David's departure could pave the way for Zirkzee at Juventus

Joshua Zirkzee of Manchester United is reportedly Juventus's primary target for their forward line.

Zirkzee is admired for his ability to play deeper, link up with midfielders, and create space, characteristics that would complement rather than overlap with Randal Kolo Muani. Manchester United has already indicated a willingness to consider a loan for Zirkzee.

However, Juventus must first create room in their squad, and David's potential exit is seen as the crucial first step in this process.

David has had a challenging first season in Turin. He joined on a free transfer from Lille last summer with a strong reputation but only managed to score eight goals throughout the campaign.

Initially a reserve player under Igor Tudor, he showed signs of improvement after Spalletti took over. His three goals for Canada at the World Cup also hinted at the potential Aston Villa hopes to unlock.

Adding complexity, David himself is reportedly keen to stay and impress Spalletti. Crystal Palace are also reportedly monitoring his situation. His significant salary of €6 million per year presents another hurdle. Nevertheless, Aston Villa's interest has undoubtedly initiated the transfer discussions.
