AC Milan: Ruben Amorim Excludes Two French Internationals
Newly appointed AC Milan coach Ruben Amorim is conducting a major squad review just days before the start of Serie A. Christopher Nkunku and Youssouf Fofana, along with five other teammates, have been sent to train separately.
AC Milan is very active in the transfer market, both in terms of incoming and outgoing players. Ruben Amorim, who took the helm at AC Milan this summer, faces the significant task of rebuilding the squad after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League last season. The Portuguese coach has decided to compile a list of players he will not be counting on this year.
Two French internationals are among the group of players deemed unwanted by the Milanese board. According to Fabrizio Romano, Christopher Nkunku and Youssouf Fofana are not in the plans of the former Manchester United coach for the upcoming season. Nkunku, who arrived last summer from Chelsea for a fee of 37 million euros, has not met expectations (7 goals), as has his compatriot, who is being encouraged to find a new club.
Seven Players in Total Sent to Train Separately
Both players have potential suitors at other clubs. Nkunku could leave on loan or in a permanent transfer. The 28-year-old forward is being courted by other Italian teams as well as clubs abroad. The same applies to Fofana, who joined the Lombardy club two years ago from AS Monaco.
And the French duo is not alone in this situation. Five other Milan players have been placed in a large group, meaning seven players are condemned to train away from the first team. Among them are Fikayo Tomori, David Odogu, Pervis Estupinan, Santiago Giménez, and Filippo Terracciano. These could be valuable acquisitions for clubs still looking to strengthen before the summer transfer window closes.
