The highly anticipated second installment of the FFVII ‘Remake’ trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on June 3. Originally released for PlayStation 5 in February 2024 and for PC in January 2025, a demo covering the first two chapters of the game is now available for download on these new platforms at no cost. Square Enix has stated that the demo offers several hours of gameplay, including combat, exploration, and side content.
These demo chapters feature the Nibelheim flashback with Cloud and Sephiroth, alongside the open-world region, The Grasslands. This allows players to experience the game’s combat system, including Synergized Abilities. The demo also provides access to new progression features, such as unlimited HP and MP, a perpetually full ATB gauge, and simplified weapon ability acquisition, enabling players to focus on the narrative.
On Nintendo Switch 2, the demo requires a 45.1 GB download, while the full game will take up 102.5 GB. For Xbox Series consoles, the demo is 91 GB. Players who engage with the demo can transfer their save data to the full game upon its release on June 3. This transfer will also unlock bonuses for the complete game, including a Kupo Charm (which increases the chance of obtaining additional materials) and a Survival Set.
