LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade Set Allows Assembly of Legendary Nintendo Arcade Machine
Following LEGO sets based on franchises like Pokémon, Super Mario, and The Legend of Zelda, and after the NES and Game Boy sets, a new LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade set is on the horizon. This set will recreate the legendary arcade machine that propelled Nintendo to global fame in the early eighties. Initial details have leaked, indicating an August release with a price of $200 USD.
A LEGO Donkey Kong set was previously announced in May, but information was limited. Now, it's confirmed that Nintendo and LEGO are collaborating on the company's most famous arcade machine – the one that launched DK, Pauline, and Jumpman (who would later become Mario) into stardom in 1981. This arcade classic was designed by Shigeru Miyamoto and the late Gunpei Yokoi.
The LEGO arcade machine replica will feature playable buttons, a joystick, and a screen displaying the first of the game's three classic levels, which has since been adapted to numerous platforms. The LEGO Donkey Kong Arcade set will consist of 1367 pieces, and its official announcement is expected soon.
Meanwhile, the LEGO Pokémon line has also revealed several new sets for the coming months, including Arcanine, Rayquaza, and Munchlax. Additionally, there will be an 'Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball' set and a large-scale minifigure of Red, alongside a smaller keychain version.
