After a long-awaited request, fans of gaming’s most famous ape can finally enjoy Donkey Kong 64 on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack – for both Switch and Switch 2 – starting June 3rd at 8:00 PM. Nintendo announced the arrival of the iconic 1999 Rare title, complete with its famously popular rap.
Join DK’s crew as they climb, swim, and jump through dangerous, puzzle-filled zones, utilizing their special abilities and upgrades. Search for collectibles and play through wild mini-games solo, or face off against friends in four-player split-screen battle arenas (additional controllers and accessories are required for multiplayer mode).
Donkey Kong 64 kicks off with the return of K. Rool for another of his villainous conquest attempts on Kong Island. Our furry hero, Donkey Kong, the leader of the family, must confront K. Rool and the Kremlings, reclaim his Golden Bananas, and save his homeland from certain destruction. Choose from DK, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong, and play solo in a highly ‘collectathon’ adventure or with friends in competitive battle arenas.
The Donkey Kong rap also featured in the Super Mario Bros. Movie during Donkey Kong’s debut. However, its composer, Grant Kirkhope, was not credited in the film, despite other songs receiving proper recognition. It’s time to set that right.
