Tyson Fury Claims Conor McGregor Mimicked His Trash Talk Style

Tyson Fury suggests that Conor McGregor adopted his distinctive style of provocative pre-fight talk as the Irish fighter rose to prominence.

McGregor has long been recognized for his bold pronouncements and captivating presence during interviews and press conferences. Despite the perception that McGregor's peak fighting years may have passed, he continues to hold a unique sway over audiences, a feat that Fury believes he himself pioneered.

In a conversation with ALF Global, as reported by MMAFighting, "The Gypsy King" asserted that he was the inspiration behind McGregor's skill in engaging crowds with his verbal sparring.

"He copied me. He copied my style," Fury stated, implying he was the originator of this approach. "I’ve been talking trash from the very beginning. For a long time. I don’t do it to get inside their heads. Boxing is show business. Boxing is like Hollywood, like a movie. The fans need to be entertained. When they tune in and pay to watch Tyson Fury fight, the build-up to the press conference, they need to see a show. That's what they come for. It’s going to be a wild show; something is going to happen. It’s like a circus."

Both Fury and McGregor achieved world championship status in 2015. Fury defeated Wladimir Klitschko to secure the WBA, IBF, The Ring, and IBO heavyweight titles. In the UFC, McGregor won the interim featherweight title by defeating Chad Mendes before delivering a memorable 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo to claim the undisputed championship.
