WNBA: Gabby Williams Joins Golden State Valkyries
Gabby Williams, a seasoned seven-year veteran of the WNBA, having previously played for Chicago and Seattle, has officially signed with the Golden State Valkyries. In 2025, Williams earned a spot on the WNBA All-Defensive First Team and made history as the first French player to be selected for the WNBA All-Star Game.
During her tenure with Seattle, Williams achieved a career-best in several statistical categories, including points per game (11.6), assists per game (4.2), steals per game (2.3), and free throw percentage (85.3%). Her league-leading 2.3 steals per game underscored her exceptional defensive capabilities.
"It's simply incredible that a player of Gabby's caliber chose us in our second year," stated Ohemaa Nyanin, General Manager of the Valkyries. "She is world-class. One of the best defenders globally, a WNBA All-Star, and a player who elevates the game for all her teammates. Honestly, what excites me most is her personality. Gabby is deeply rooted in the Bay Area, and she's returning home (she is originally from Nevada). The community will adore her, and I believe she will love being here."
Having recently won the Turkish championship in 2026 with Fenerbahçe, Gabby Williams is set to compete in the EuroLeague Final 6 this week with Fenerbahçe before joining Golden State. She is also anticipated to represent France at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup this summer.
