With the Serie A season nearing its conclusion, the fight for Champions League qualification is intensifying. While the league title is decided, three spots remain up for grabs, with five teams vying for them.
Inter Milan have secured the Scudetto, leaving a fierce competition for the remaining Champions League berths. This analysis breaks down the remaining fixtures and prospects for the top contenders.
Napoli – 70 points
Despite falling short of retaining their championship title, Napoli are close to securing Champions League football. A recent goalless draw means they need just one win and one draw from their remaining three matches to guarantee a top-four finish.
Their upcoming fixtures include a match against ninth-placed Bologna, followed by an away game against struggling Pisa, which presents a strong opportunity for victory. Napoli’s final match is against Udinese, a team that previously secured a 1-0 win against them in December 2025, indicating a potential challenge.
Milan – 67 points
A victory against Sassuolo would have significantly boosted Milan’s qualification chances, but their recent defeat has put them under pressure. Currently three points ahead of fifth-placed Roma, AC Milan must quickly recover from their setback.
While their next match against Atalanta is expected to be tough, the final two games of the season appear more manageable. Milan will travel to face Genoa on May 17, and then host Cagliari at the San Siro for their last game. Both Genoa and Cagliari are in the lower half of the table, and despite Genoa managing a 1-1 draw against Milan in January, the 19-time champions are expected to be confident of securing a positive result.
Juventus – 65 points
While Juventus drew 1-1 with Verona, they remain in a strong position. They hold a one-point advantage over Roma and have a favorable schedule, facing only teams from the bottom half of the table in their remaining games.
Lecce could pose a challenge, though their recent form has been inconsistent. Juventus are considered strong favorites in their matches against Fiorentina and Torino, positioning them well for Champions League qualification.
Roma – 64 points
Despite having lost more games than Napoli, Roma remain in contention for a Champions League spot, seven seasons after their last appearance in the competition.
Their recent win against Fiorentina has moved them into fifth place, but their path to the top four is more challenging than their rivals. Roma’s upcoming fixtures include an away match against Parma, followed by the Derby della Capitale against Lazio. Roma have a strong recent record against Lazio, not having lost to them since January 2024, which will boost their confidence as they pursue European football. Their final game of the season is against Verona on May 24, which could be decisive if other teams drop points.
Como – 62 points
A victory against Napoli would have put Como in a commanding position for Champions League qualification. Now, they need to win all three of their remaining games and hope for favorable results from other matches to have a chance.
Como possesses the quality to win consecutive matches, and their remaining fixtures against bottom-three teams Verona and Cremonese, with a home game against 12th-placed Parma in between, offer opportunities. However, qualifying for the Champions League presents a significant challenge for the Lombardy-based club.
