The New York Liberty have secured a promising young talent in Pauline Astier, who at just 24 years old, embodies the club’s strategy of acquiring skilled players ready to make an immediate impact and grow into cornerstone players within the league.
“Pauline Astier is precisely the type of young player we prioritize: a talented individual capable of contributing right away, with the potential to become an undisputed starter in this league,” stated Jonathan Kolb, General Manager of the New York Liberty. “She possesses exceptional court vision as a point guard, and we are confident that her game sense can be fully leveraged and continue to develop within Chris DeMarco’s system.”
Astier is coming off a strong 2025-2026 season with USK Prague, where she participated in 14 Euroleague games. During this period, she averaged 10.2 points, 5.6 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game.
Hailing from Tarbes, Astier has already garnered significant accolades. In 2023, she was named Euroleague Women’s Rising Star with Bourges. She also achieved success in 2022, winning the EuroCup and the French championship with Bourges, the same year she was recognized as the Best Young Player in the LFB (La Ligue Féminine de Basketball).
The Liberty are preparing for their historic 30th season, which kicks off at Barclays Center with a preseason game against the Indiana Fever on Saturday, April 25th. Their home opener is scheduled for Friday, May 8th, against the Connecticut Sun.
