The anime adaptation of Kōhei Horikoshi’s manga, My Hero Academia, concluded its broadcast last December. However, the animated series by Studio Bones did not adapt the epilogue of Horikoshi’s manga, which was released alongside the final tankōbon. Now, with the premiere of this epilogue, or episode 170+1 of the My Hero Academia anime, just days away, TOHO Animation has released a new trailer to build excitement.
When is the Release of My Hero Academia Episode 170+1?
The special episode, officially titled “More” (or episode 170+1 of My Hero Academia), is set to air on May 2nd at 5:30 PM in Japan and will be globally distributed by Crunchyroll. This release marks the end of over 10 years of the anime’s broadcast and completes the adaptation of the original Boku no Hero Academia manga material.
What is the Story of My Hero Academia Episode 170+1?
The story of the My Hero Academia epilogue is based on exclusive content from volume 42 of the manga. In this tankōbon, author Kōhei Horikoshi added 38 pages of new material following the original conclusion. The narrative jumps forward eight years after the students of U.A. Academy graduated, showcasing the adult lives of Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki, and Ochaco Uraraka.
Following the defeat of All For One and the loss of One For All’s powers, Deku now works as a teacher at the academy, guiding new generations. However, the episode will feature Midoriya’s return to the battlefield. Additionally, fans are eagerly anticipating the development of the romantic relationship between Deku and Ochaco. This concluding release coincides with the franchise’s tenth-anniversary project, which includes the “My Hero Academia in Concert” world tour. The tour, featuring music by composer Yūki Hayashi, will travel through Japan in May, the United States in September, and ten cities across Europe.
