The landscape of international women’s basketball is undergoing a significant shift, fueled by rising WNBA salaries and the emergence of new leagues like the 3×3 Unrivaled and 5×5 Project B. This has led to speculation about the future commitments of top players.
One such player, Gabby Williams, recently celebrated a European Championship victory with Fenerbahçe. Meanwhile, Marine Johannès was a finalist in the Euroleague with Galatasaray. Both are now reportedly considering a move to the newly formed Project B league.
Project B is slated to feature 66 players across six teams, with tournaments scheduled in Europe (including a stop in Valencia), Asia, and America from November to April. Significant salaries are expected to be offered within this league. The first confirmed French player to join Project B is Janelle Salaün.
While no official confirmation has been made regarding Johannès and Williams, reports suggest they are not expected to play in traditional European leagues after their WNBA seasons conclude, with Project B being their likely destination for the following season.
