LEGO’s Super Mario sets have been on the market for several years, yet minifigures were notably absent throughout this period. Appropriately, on MAR10 Day, the company finally revealed that the first wave of Mushroom Kingdom minifigures will be available starting in 2027. Additionally, the previously announced Luigi figure for the LEGO Mario Kart line was showcased.
Since 2020, collectors have openly expressed their desire for traditional Mario minifigures. Despite constant fan pressure, LEGO had been reluctant to produce them, initially opting for more expensive electronic toys instead of the classic minifigure design for the first LEGO Super Mario sets.
The LEGO Super Mario collection has featured electronic figures, intricate scenarios, and larger, detailed builds, such as Bowser and the Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block. It also included a decorative buildable piece from Super Mario World and an earlier LEGO Mario Kart set, preceding the recently unveiled Luigi. This new Luigi Mario Kart set, which is now available for pre-order on the official LEGO website, comprises 2234 pieces, boasts a considerable size, and is priced at $180 USD.

The arrival of Super Mario minifigures is excellent news, as it promises to make collecting LEGO Super Mario products much more accessible and budget-friendly. This will be warmly welcomed by parents of young children as well as casual collectors, expanding beyond just affluent adult enthusiasts with substantial purchasing power and limited free time.
