LEGO has officially unveiled its largest Lord of the Rings set to date: a stunning recreation of the White City, Minas Tirith, comprising an impressive 8,278 pieces. Available for pre-order at $650 USD, the set is scheduled for release on June 1st for members of the free LEGO Insiders rewards program, followed by a global launch on June 4th. Additionally, those who purchase the set between June 1st and June 7th will receive a complimentary The Lord of the Rings – Grond Siege Ram set.
Inspired by the iconic city from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, the Minas Tirith set is a diorama that expertly blends an expansive view of the citadel with intricate interior scenes, including the throne room. When fully assembled, the set measures over 23 inches (59 cm) in height, 24 inches (62 cm) in width, and 14 inches (37 cm) in depth. It demands a significant display space to appreciate its full glory, though it might not be large enough to host the grand wedding of Aragorn and Arwen with all their guests as depicted at the film’s conclusion.
The set also features the following 10 minifigures:
- Aragorn (in his King Elessar attire)
- Arwen
- Denethor (complete with a tomato accessory)
- Faramir
- Gandalf the White with Shadowfax
- Gondor Soldiers (four in total)
- Peregrin Took
As previously mentioned, this is LEGO’s largest The Lord of the Rings set to date, far surpassing previous releases like the Rivendell and Barad-dûr towers. These other monumental sets are still available for pre-order should you wish to complete your collection, alongside smaller The Lord of the Rings kits such as the Helm of Sauron and the Balrog set featuring Gandalf the Grey with his iconic line, “You shall not pass!”
