Manchester City striker Erling Haaland drew attention for his choice of words when celebrating his team’s 2-1 triumph over Arsenal on Sunday. This victory significantly narrowed the gap at the top of the Premier League to three points, with City still holding a game in hand.
The match saw City take an early lead through a goal, only for a mistake by Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to gift Kai Havertz an equalizer. Despite a spirited effort from Arsenal, Haaland extended his goal tally in the second half, shortly after the Gunners had struck the woodwork.
Following the game, Haaland spoke to Sky Sport alongside his colleague Bernardo Silva. When discussing a pivotal header won by the Portuguese midfielder against Swedish forward Victor Gyokeres, Haaland exclaimed that Silva was “like f*cking Cannavaro,” referencing the acclaimed Italian defender and Ballon d’Or winner.
Sky Sports issued an apology for the striker’s expletive, which has since been censored in all public broadcasts.
