According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid has officially informed Inter Milan that they intend to trigger Denzel Dumfries’ €20 million release clause. The 30-year-old Dutch right-back is reportedly undergoing his medical examinations in the Netherlands today.
Real Madrid has reportedly completed all the necessary procedures to secure the signing of Dumfries from Inter. The player himself, currently suspended for the Netherlands’ friendly against Algeria, is not participating in the match, allowing him to focus on his impending transfer.
Romano further reports that Real Madrid’s management has communicated to their Inter counterparts their decision to activate the defender’s €20 million clause. The transfer is expected to be finalized at the beginning of July, coinciding with the activation of Dumfries’ release clause.
Dumfries, who joined Inter from PSV for €14 million in the summer of 2021, has had a significant impact during his tenure. He has contributed 27 goals and 28 assists in 207 appearances for the Italian club, securing multiple titles including two Serie A championships, three Coppa Italia trophies, and three Supercoppa Italiana titles. He has also reached the Champions League final twice with Inter.
