One of the most amusing skins introduced in *Marvel Rivals* is also set to be one of the most contentious, all due to its acquisition method. NetEase has unveiled the highly anticipated “maid” outfit for Deadpool, which is as hilarious as players hoped, but it can only be obtained through a ‘gacha’ event named Hospitality 101.
For those unfamiliar, gacha systems are monetization models where players pay to receive a random reward from a predetermined list. While widely used in games like *Genshin Impact*, they have faced significant and justified criticism for being exploitative and encouraging excessive spending.
This event will be active from Thursday, April 9, to Thursday, May 7, 2026.
To participate in the event, players must purchase a ‘Star’ to burst one of six balloons, revealing one of six potential random rewards. The most sought-after prize is the “Maid-Pool” skin, with other rewards including emojis, banners, and sprays.
The initial ‘Star’ costs 100 Units, but the price significantly increases with each subsequent attempt, effectively doubling. This means players could end up spending up to 2400 Units to secure all available prizes, a sum that surpasses the cost of a typical legendary outfit.
This isn’t the first skin to be acquired through such a method. Prior to the Deadpool “maid” outfit, *Marvel Rivals* featured an anniversary skin for Psylocke that was obtained via an identical mechanic, which also drew considerable criticism.
Developed by the Chinese studio NetEase, *Marvel Rivals* is a free-to-play team-based multiplayer battle game. It includes paid microtransactions and is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
