Konami, Evil Empire, and Motion Twin have announced the release date for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, the next installment in the beloved saga. Contrary to some expectations, the game will not be a ‘roguelike,’ a detail attributed to the influence of Dracula himself. However, players looking forward to the Nintendo Switch version will need to exercise a bit more patience.
The game is set to launch on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC on October 15, 2026. Konami has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch version will also be released in 2026, suggesting a potential release in the following months to conclude the year.
There are currently no plans for a native version or enhancements specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2, though the game will be backward compatible on the system.
The promotional art for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is being handled by Katsuya Terada, a legendary illustrator known for his distinctive art style. Terada’s previous works include illustrations for The Legend of Zelda and various Square RPGs, which were featured in Nintendo Power magazine. His contributions often brought a more realistic and mature aesthetic to games that were primarily known for their pixelated graphics at the time.
In Belmont’s Curse, the mantle is taken up by Rose Belmont, who is presented as a descendant, possibly the daughter, of Trevor Belmont. While she bears a resemblance to Trevor, she is distinct from Sonia Belmont, the protagonist of Castlevania Legends for Game Boy. Sonia’s story is considered an alternate timeline and not part of the main Castlevania canon. In that Game Boy title, Sonia was depicted as the first Belmont and implied to be the mother of Trevor, with Alucard suggested as Trevor’s father. Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse is officially considered the predecessor to the new game, with its story taking place 23 years prior to the events of Belmont’s Curse.
As we anticipate the arrival of Konami’s new Castlevania title, players might also be interested in Silent Planet, a game that evokes the spirit of classic exploratory Castlevania experiences.
