During the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, Bethesda shared details about upcoming updates for its online universes. The dynamic ‘Plagues’ system for Fallout 76 and the introduction of a seasonal format for The Elder Scrolls Online with the return of a beloved faction were two of the studio’s announcements at the event.
A New Look at Fallout 76: Plagues
Bethesda presented a new preview of Plagues, a dynamic event system for Fallout 76 that introduces high-difficulty encounters across Appalachia. This mode focuses on attacks by dangerous factions at various points on the map. Additionally, the new preview confirmed daily rewards for Fallout 76 players from June 7th to June 15th.
Players will be tasked with exploring these areas and engaging in intense battles against unpredictable enemies and powerful elite bosses, featuring unique mutations and mechanics. By reclaiming territories from hostile forces, users will receive exclusive four-star legendary rewards. As the various plagues appear randomly throughout the game world, the combats will be spread across different corners of the map.
Introducing the New Season of The Elder Scrolls Online
Furthermore, The Elder Scrolls Online is ushering in a new era with the implementation of a seasonal system designed to offer greater content variety and better respond to player community feedback. The first season is titled Return of the Thieves Guild.
This update marks the first major story focused on this iconic guild since 2016, allowing its narrative to continue. This time, players will experience a new plot and an entirely new cast of characters in Daggerfall. Here, they must collaborate directly with the guild to confront the ruthless Koldane Cartel. This inaugural season of The Elder Scrolls Online‘s new phase will add a multitude of adventures and novel mechanics for all players of Bethesda’s MMORPG.
