ASRock has officially launched its new custom graphics card (GPU) based on AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture. This is the 12GB OC Radeon RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Dark, a model that represents a significant shift in the brand’s design philosophy, completely departing from its classic light and white aesthetic. Instead, this Steel Legend GPU now boasts a darker, more elegant, and somewhat minimalist style.

The RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Dark features a cut-down NAVI 48 chip and includes 48 compute units, 48 ray tracing cores, 96 AI accelerators, and 12GB of VRAM with a 192-bit interface. Unlike the reference model, the Steel Legend Dark pushes its clock speed up to 2920 MHz. Regarding pricing, ASRock has confirmed that the RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Dark is launching with a suggested retail price of $549. This GPU stands out with its triple-fan cooling system featuring Striped Ring fan technology. This includes air-deflecting fins and Ultra-fit heatpipes. It also incorporates a gray backplate with the series logo and a reinforced metal frame.
AMD claims that the ASRock RX 9070 GRE Steel Legend Dark’s performance averages 22% higher than the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti, based on tests across 40 video games. However, its price point places it in direct competition with the $549 GeForce RTX 5070. It’s worth noting that the ‘RAMpocalypse’ has driven the standard RX 9070 model’s price above $600, which helps this GRE edition maintain a competitive cost in the mid-to-high-end graphics card market.
